Christ, I will never complain about plot-holes, OOCs, and fucked up timelines in manga ever again. I always forget just how much more things get screwed up when there are over a dozen writers/artists working on several series involving the same characters at different point in the characters' life. And don't even get me started on the alternative universes about the same characters. I mean there's 'Batgirl', 'Batman', 'Nightwing', 'Robin, 'Outsiders', and I haven't even began on the 'Teen Titans' yet. I don't have a damn clue just where each of these series is at in relation to each other. Continuity? What continuity?

No, not getting obsessed. Just interested in the newest Robin… the male one.

:D! I feel that way about X-Men sometimes. I love it, but I don't read enough of the comics to have any clue what's going on, really. Or, like. Who's dead this time, and who's been brought back from the dead, and who's just elsewhere or still living.

What's the newest Robin like? Don't get me interested in buying any more comics than I already do

Uh, you do know what happened to Jason and Steph, right?

Anyways, the new Robin is called Tim Drake. Unlike the previous Robins Tim had a pretty average childhood (both parents alive, etc.). Tim is... Tim is intelligent, he's dedicated, and he's pretty much the perfect stalker material -_-;; See, this is what happened; when Tim was 3 his family and him went to the Circus, and obvsiouly, in The Great Design of things it was the fateful night when the Graysons died, leaving their son to be adopted by Bruce Wayne. Anyways, to make a story short, Tim get have a slight hero-worship of young Dick, the circus gets attacked, people die, and Tim see Batman save Dick. A few years later, Tim sees a news clip of Robin saving Batman, Robin performs the Quadruple Hop, and Tim connect the dot (OMF! Robin is Dick Grayson, and that would mean Bruce Wayne is Batman. BTW; Tim was like 9 at the times). Fom that point onwards, Tim becomes a bit obsessive about collecting news on Batman and Robin.

Then Robin disappears, (to become Nightwing), and a new Robin arrives (Jason), and after what happened to Jason, let's just say Batman kind of lose it a tad. And Tim, in his really scary way, came to the conclusion that Batman need Robin. Tim goes off to find Dick, when he eventually finds Dick, our Mr Grayson said no, but he'd help Tim become Robin (this is the really short version). Anyways, Batman eventually accepts Tim as the new Robin, sometime down the road Tim's mother dies from an attack, and Tim's dad gets re-married.

And serisouly, I could end it there but I'm attempting to pull you to the dark side. Tim's dad find out about Bruce Wayne being Batman and TIm being Robin, through a series of events (Tim's dad pulling a gun on Bruce Wayne), Tim quits being Robin, his girl-friend (Steph) takes over the position. More angst, after Steph, uh, yeah, Tim returns as Robin (yay! There was quite a bit of soul searching) And of course, more angst occurs, one of the best sequence of scenes, (I cry) Tim's father gets murdered, and omfg! Batman being comforting *wobbles* Anyways, to get the full affect, go here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/keelywolfe/287346.html

Tim is interesting because Tim lies to everyone, and he always seem more Batman than any of the other Robins. Hmm.

:/ It sounds really interesting. What comics (vague issue numbers) should I look up? (Unless that's what you're stuck on, too.)

I love Batman, nevermind the wonky timelines, story leaps and that which critics have pointed out at a bazillion time - the so called homoerotic attraction between Bruce and his young charges. Er.

Still, it makes collecting the comics quite hard. Apart from a good number of the books not being available in Singapore (no Knightfall series at Kinokuniya? D00d!!), the timeline makes collecting them near impossible for someone who isn't obsessive enough to go tracking down Batman's entire history :D;; Maybe I'll find a good website or something that can set me straight. In the meantime, I may just bend and buy the trade editions from Amazon or something.

Avium now will send her recommendation of the sci-fi fantasy series 'Finder' to [livejournal.com profile] naanima. You've got to check it out - it helps tide me over while Elfquest 9 is enroute to the local bookstores:

I'm madly in LOVE with the Bats-family. It is the the fact that they care about each other, even if it is in a completely and utterly screwed up way. The so called homoerotic subtext makes me amused. I have my theories but I try to read the series with a clean mind. Beside Bruce is really hot with Catwoman.

Poor girl. I'm goining to try and see if they got some back issues of the ones I want after my exams.

Will read soon. Honest. Need to do exams first.
