... exam this afternoon. so not prepared. will die a glorious fiery death. will then revive like a phoenix from the ashes to take another exam tomorrow evening.

baka_neko, I understand your agony at the horror that is the English dub for Dynasty Warriors. My ears bleed and I scream in agony at the butchering of names; COW COW. ARGHH! i dare say COW PEE is worse. in addition, i remember my cane wielding teachers with much terror. those things hurt.

It is meant to be Cao Pi. But for some obscure reason it seems to be beyond their power to pronouche it the correct way. So, COW PEE it is.

...ok, Cao Pi makes sense, but WHY OH WHY would they change it to Cow Pee, especially since Cao is not pronounced Cow (er, I'm right about this, yes?). I'm sure people would rather not be thinking of pissing cows in relation to that character. =_=

No, the wording is correct; he is known as Cao Pi everywhere. It's the way them dubbers say it. When I first took Beginner Japanese, 95% of the westerners I was taking it with couldn't pronounce the sounds correctly. (50% dropped out because they couldn't 'hear' what was wrong with their pronunciation.) I had a background of Chinese lessons -- my pronunciation was pitch perfect from day one. If the voice actors knew even some hanyin pinyin, they definitely wouldn't be pronouncing it as Cow Pee. XD

Yeah, but I don't mind Lu Bu satring into the sky and muttering "...cow cow..." - I'm of the understanding that, for a warrior of his prowess, that was as articulate and comprehensive as he got; let's face it, he's there to hack, not discuss... fat load of good either did him anyway.

I should know better than to ask why they don't pronounce it correctly. >.> Except, it's a name. They could at least coach the dubbers to try and get it right for something like a game in which it'll be heard over and over. Since I'm planning to pick this game up sometime in the future, I guess I can look forward to Cow Pee then. ^^
