He wants to do good, wants to make things better for the world. After all, Weiß extends beyond the reach of law to reclaim justice where it is lost among paperwork and stoolies, don't they? Each man he impales, each time he draws blood from another he whispers to himself, "It's alright. We are making things better."
Making things better.
He isnt a good liar, he never had a gift for it. But he is good enough to convince himself that it is all that mattered. As long as they are ridding the world of evil, as long as they are weeding out the criminals. As long as he can keep the weak from being preyed upon by removing the criminal elements living above them.
One way or another.

On the streets they rattle no cans, sit beside no signs a-begging. At night they sleep on cardboard boxes, hualed from the back of electronic shops. At best these last only for a few nights of sleeping on the cold grounds - the police come and remove these "fire hazards" soon after. When no one is watching, when backs are turned, he reaches over and snatches a few pieces away, returning them to their original spot as the men in blue leave. Sometimes he slips a few notes in-between the pressed cardboard, sometimes he runs the full errand by going round to the back of shops to retrieve discarded cardboard boxes to replace the taken ones. But he never waits to see if his gestures are welcomed.
There resides no fear in finding out the worse - that these people find his intrusion a mockery. Forced pity, they will say. No, his ears do not burn at such words.
After all, he is making things better, isn't he?
But maybe there is the worry that his work goes unnoticed. A kindness lost among the pressing needs of surviving yet another day - another meal, another drink of clean water.
Moving in the dark, killing for the sake of bettering the miserable state of society. A man lost among the ever-increasing, all-shadowing darkness.
Another death-rattle, another night up polishing off blood that is not his.
He hopes that he is making things better.
==========
Crawford: Intensely self-preserved man who sees himself above the common.
Ken: Uncertain, but inherently optimistic despite the odds stacked against him and his work.
As you can see, I prefer fanon to canon. After all I'm sure that anyone forced to look at canon characters like Brad Crawford and Draco Malfoy, we'd have to admit that they're repulsive, arrogant scumbags. But take it to fanon and, well... you know. Stylised bad boys.
