I feel dumb, but it doesn't seem to have answered any of the pressing matters. Like, what set of regulations does the LJ-abuse team have to deleted journals? Also, why is fiction and fanart being banned when pro-anoerexia communities are still around?

I must confess to being puzzled myself. Why aren't they going after REAL child p0rn than fictional ones? And as for the pro-anorexia communities being allowed to stay on, their apparent reasoning was that such comms do "more good than bad" by warning people away from such acts. Erm, PRO-anorexia comms warning people away from anorexia? EPIC FAIL.

It is really screwed up. Like I said no trust, and I'm just going to keep on posting the things that's going down at LJ. I am reading up on Wordpress, and choosing my servers with great care; reading all the TOS. Also, please, it is pretty obvious that the whole fiasco is do to legal issues and the sort of 'community' they want to build. Having extremely biased individuals on the LJ abuse team is conflict of interest, and there is little transparency in the way they handle matters. The way they are going about doing business is just bad practice.

You can always check out WebHostingTalk.com for reviews on any webhost you decide to go with. Personally I'm not ready to jump ship, and I really don't foresee myself doing things that might be against the TOS.

What LJ really needs to do now is to explain the 2 cases of suspension, because from the comments I am reading it seems like people are still up in arms over the how and why exactly for this situation.

Also, a bit late to doing housekeeping and suddenly say, "this is the type of community we want", isn't it? They should have spelt this out from the start instead of springing it on us during 1) Memorial Day weekend, 2) Harry Potter DH weekend, and 3) Friday.

Ohh - thanks! Didn't even know it existed. I'm not so much as jumping ship as I want a clean start for personal/professional reasons (Business + Professional reasons). This journal will still be here but updating may become less and less. The way LJ is going just make the hwole process less painless.

*NODS* It is the lack transparency in their process, and the fact that they keep on contracdicting themselves in their actions. The confusion, the subjective deletion of journals, the fact that a LJ employee and LJ itself implied that all fans of HP are pedophiles is a stupid mistake and obviously biased the decision of the LJ abuse team.

I'm not arguing their rights to delete journals. It is their server, I am angry at the way it was done, the contradictory news, the obvious disrespct to their paying customers, and the gall to decided what holds artistic merits and what doesn't. That's just retarded and fucking stupid.

Yes, it is definitely too late. And the 3 times it was done was obviously done in the hope of avoiding a major PR incident, well, too fucking bad for them. So, no sympathy.

WebHostingTalk is a great place for all hosting-related matters. I am personally planning to move my sites to WebKore.net soon. Still sitting on the idea, but it seems like a place with good prices and great support turnabout time. And if it's one lesson I learnt from all my years of buying hosting, it is that you can never underestimate the importance of fast support.

I still can't get over the fact that it's specifically 2 HP artists whose HP artworks led to them being hit in this fiasco. It is just too... coincidental? Selfishly, I am glad I am no longer in the HP fandom because otherwise I'll have to follow the pack and move off LJ or something. My gut tells me that this won't be the last of the HP-related suspensions.

I have to give LJ time to get their news out to us. They can't possibly address all our concerns in a single post (which, btw, should totally have been posted to

news instead of the biz LJ. But they need to address our concerns, and in a timely manner. My biggest question to them right now is if they will suspend a user for what they deem to be illegal contents even if the contents were hosted off LJ and merely linked to from within LJ?

I am just giggling at how silly they were to try not once, but 3 times to slip their policy changes past their ever-alert user base over such dates. Once it might be a coincidence, but 3 times and it is almost insulting the way they think there is ever a timeout online.

HP artists being targeted is not that surprising considering JKR's attitudes to fans and fan creations. No way it is conincidental, I am all for CONSPIRACY! Beside, HP is like the largest monet making machine ever, no way in hell WB or JKR let anything besmirch its name. Blah, blah, blah. I think HP fan artists/writers are going down. But the point is, HP fans today, what's tomorrow? It is a slippery slope from here.

See, I can't give them the benefit of the doubt. They didn't have to address all of our concerns but they could have made a statement about their actions before it happened. Hell, they could have said somethingl straight after changing their codes so that it no longer showed the strikethrough of deleted journals, or even just one sentence saying an exclaimation is in progress to THEIR customers. Instead they kept unsilent, let their employees be unprofessional, and made NO actions to be transparent in their decision making process. As for hosting adult content on their server - they want a 'clean' community. It seems to me they want a MySpace because they want the money.

I can't giggle because it is down right frustrating, and their sheer stupidity is making me slightly stunned.
