General fan-stuff

naanima: (hope over tatooine)
For the past few days I have been looking really hot. I call it the Art of wearing Complementary Clothing AKA Black is good for you! In addition, the boots adds a couple of inches to me, which doesn’t hurt (though the actual pain it causes is kind of distracting and a bit of a minus to the way I look).

Things of interest: watched the first season of Grey’s Anatomy. I really like this show; intelligent, sexy and hilarious. Furthermore, one of the few shows on television that can actually be considered to be ‘multicultural’, these days it still surprises me to see more than 3 people of colour (playing major roles) on any main stream television series. Which leads to my next question; why the hells haven’t the f-list picked up on the series yet? The series is a thing of fluffy marshmallow and alcohol, i.e., all the good stuff in life.

Have also made [livejournal.com profile] nekomancy watch King Arthur for the slash subtext, ‘cos you know, I’m kind of shallow that way. Besides, it is really hard to ignore the slash subtext, and the cat does agree with me (after a certain point in the film) on some of the, um, obvious signs.

Otherwise, read Eyeshield 21 up to volume 19, and all I can say is; OMFG! AGHHHHH!!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?! ARGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!! MORE! NEED MORE! WHY ISN’T THERE MORE!? OMFG! ARRRGHHHH! MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE! HIRUMA!!!! *FANGIRL SQUEE*.

I think no one's doing the GA thing because no one's doing the GA thing. Kind of the opposite of the SGA/Smallville effect, where everyone picks up the show because suddenly everyone's writing in it.

Or possibly because you'd have to write het and girlslash or non-white people (which the blog against racism week taught me that people are afraid to write about for some reason(??)) at least part of the time, because all of the white boys are kind of annoying. I mean, dude. What could you write if you only slash boys--Alex/McDreamy? George/Alex? D:

It makes me sad, because Grey's is awesome! (I'm waiting for someone to write me Bailey/George. :D Or Cristina/Bailey!)

But the GA thing is really awesome and cool. I also believe it is due to the lack of the ghei in the show that so many people (female fans) don't talk about it. This is kind of sad... especially for me, because as a consumer I want my fics and I want it NOW!

I -would- love to read HET fics for this fandom, oh yes, lots and lots of het... it is like the Farscape fandom for me all over again *happy sigh*. Though I admit, I'm more interested in reading gen or girl slash for this series than most. (I see, you found the good wank once more, but yes, I know that school of thought. Though I wish most of them would just admit the fact that they identify with a white character rather than saying they'll fuck up characterisation based on race. Having said that I can understand the presence of crap characterisation of people from other cultures. Asians are NOT ALIENS, they are NOT exotic, and they are NOT ALL COMMUNISTS! Tom Clancy have a lot to answer for). OMFG! I -so- do NOT want to read slash for this series; it is just ewwww.

GA is AWESOME! (OMFG! Bailey/George!!!! Though I'm more of a Cristina/Bailey! girl myself.. actually, I'm just a Cristina fangirl in general ^^)

GA is gay. It's just kind of... girl gay. (You saw the last episode of the first season, right? :D With "You're smarter than me... and you have great hair" and the shower?) I've seen some fic at [livejournal.com profile] femslash_today, actually. Except I followed links from there to communities and they were inundated with Meredith/McDreamy or Addison/McDreamy, which kind of makes me gag even in the show. I don't even like Meredith, but how does that man deserve those women?

I doubt there'd be much gen, though, just because they spend the majority of their lives in hospital, and most of us know even less about hospitals than the writers for the shows do. But yes! Girlslash! And non-canon het! :D (It wasn't even wank. It was all very polite and misguided. Because, like, they were saying things about not wanting to screw up & being afraid that minority fans will see their fic and go "That's not how our experience is! Stop misrepresenting us!" or whatever. Only more threateningly, I guess? Whereas all you really ever see from minorities is "Why aren't there more people like me out there in media & fic :(" and they are mostly pretty used to crappy representation & tokenism already from the source. And then that's used to justify it also, but we don't let it bother us (much) with female or gay characters, so WTF fandom. (Although I will say that I was cringing at one fic I read with a black character, where the author did the exotic thing. Like, half the fic was about the character putting on sexy clothing and looking sleek and dangerous like a jungle animal. Which, um. I really just had to hit the back button. There are some things you probably shouldn't be writing--but isn't it obvious?)) I could see Burke/McDreamy boyslash if I didn't hate McDreamy with all my soul.

(I was already seeing the Bailey/George and then when she gave birth...! :D I would read pretty much anything Cristina. She's hot and awesome and has chemistry of some sort with half the cast. Not Addison yet, but Cristina could get Addison if she wanted her, definitely.)

girl gay YES! So true, which makes me happy in all kind of ways ^__^V (Yes, it is all so 'OMFG! They so are sleeping together!) I don't wanna read about Meredith/McDreamy or Addison/McDreamy, I wanna read Cristina and EVERYONE! I don't particularly mind Meredith, I just find it interesting how all the characters on the show screws up at life in similar ways as some of my friends. It is all good entertainment.

I doubt there'd be much gen,

This frustrates me because I want to read about the characters and their attempts at surgery, the loss of patients, the successes, etc., and I find romance relationships tend to fuck it up *pouts*.

But yes! Girlslash! And non-canon het! :D

I really like Girlslash! between chicks who aren't perfect and all 'nurturer' and crap... probably why Cristina appeals to so many women; she's real in her faults and she's not apologetic about it either.

(But isn't it always the polite and misguided wankery that fuck it up. Just look at the Australian government for the polite and misguided actions: Yes, we are just going to take a whole generation of Aboriginal children away from their parents, because it is much better for them. bother us (much) with female or gay characters EXACTLY! The whole "I don't want to screw it up" is just comes across as a really sad excuse. ((Sweetie, the bad authors always write that way, but I understand your pain, it is like reading fics with Chinese characters, and they are all so delicate and small, and oh-so-obedient to their men. My reaction is like; WTF? d00d! All my male relatives are all terrified of their wives because they would so have their balls if they ever even thought about cheating, or mistreating the Mrs. And I think I read something similar in relation to the whole exotic animal motif. It is irritating, and does indeed induce back button mashing.)) I like McDreamy! For all his faults! Hehehe! And the Burke/McDreamy boyslash makes trange sense.

(Bailey/George is kind of awesome... and yet oh-so-wrong). Me too! CRISTINA!! She can so get Addison is she wanted *SMIRK*
