So, did anyone else think Sephiroth was 'playing' a role when he was all 'I'll use this world to fly through the darkness of space causing destruction,' yada-yada. For a complete and utter nut-case Sephiroth came across as amused throughout the whole encounter and it looked as if he was never serious about the fight. In fact it felt as if he was egging Cloud on so Cloud would get out of his woe-me phase and kick some arse.
It is just really strange; thinking back on the whole film, seen as a whole and not just fight scenes inter-cut with dialogue, it felt as if the whole thing was a set-up, and Aerith/the Planet was bidding for its time to get rid of Jenova's tints. The question is; why wait until Kadaj had Jenova's head in his hands, thus, the chance to 'resurrect' Sephiroth. Does it mean the Planet needed Sephiroth to be resurrected in order to 'cleanse' itself of ALL hints of Jenova? So, was Sephiroth working for the Planet? Playing a role for Cloud to do the work? But why the hell is Cloud so important for the survival of the Planet? (Having survived the Mako-treatments, the Jenova cells and the Life stream, I suppose would make Cloud very important.)
So, um, lots of questions, and lots of implied stuff, and really I don't know why I'm doing this. For all I know AC was not meant to be read into that deep, however, I am a English Major and it only makes sense for me to read into subtext and inconsistencies. Yes, I'm having fun!
