The COVER for this chapter need to be seen. Raito in black. Opened shirt and leather pants. Misa in her Lolita-con/Punk Rocker getup, and L looking like a bat from hell except in white and jeans.
( Incoherent SPOILERS for DN 37 from this point forth )
Death Note is on crack. The expensive kind. I love this series.
Much more coherent now. So, summary and thoughts.
Yagami. You are Teh Man.
I have UKE!Raito impressions. HAIR! Wide-eyed! Where is the sociopath?!
Trying to formulate an intelligent reply to this chapter is beyond me at the present time.... though, WHAT HAPPENS NOW?!
*wanders off*

Death Note is eating my brain. ARGH!! Anyways, on a purely psychological front Raito definitely belongs to the Cluster B personality disorders. He has enough symptoms of Antisocial Personality Disorder to be classified as one, though there does not appear to be the presence of Conduct Disorder at a young age. However, the presence of Conduct Disorder can act as an early warning sign but does not need to be present in order for an individual to develop Antisocial Personality Disorder at a later date. The following are the criteria for a person to be diagnosed with Antisocial personality disorder. I'm using the DSM-IV criteria because that's the set of criteria that's the most widely used (Australia follows this), though I understand Europe have a slightly different set of criteria.
Diagnostic Criteria for Antisocial Personality Disorder
A. There is a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others occurring since age 18 years, as indicated by three (or more) of the following:
1. failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest
2. deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure
3. impulsivity or failure to plan ahead
4. irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults
5. reckless disregard for safety of self or others
6. consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations
7. lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another
B. The individual is at least 18 years old (under 18 may suffer from Conduct Disorder)
C. There is evidence of Conduct Disorder with onset before age 15 years.
D. The occurrence of antisocial behavior is not exclusively during the course of Schizophrenia or a Manic Episode
SEE!! Raito can possibly fit into several disorders under the Cluster B disorders. I tend to lean towards Histronic and Narcissistic personality disorders.
So, Furuba, Akito's revelation. Well, the anime definitely got that one wrong *snickers* I'm not sure if I should be scared by this, or pray that the mangaka can pull off whatever she's trying to pull off.
Naruto: OMFG!! Sasuke! Naruto! The angst! WHY?! I love the both of you so damn MUCH! I mean I understand, but dammit, LOVE and PEACE! Not this anger, this pain, this damn fight. What's really bad is that I don't know how K-sensei is going to end this. Naruto as a shounen series should be about the Hero overcoming odds and winning, thus, at this point Naruto should go all Kyubi and kick Sasuke's arse, BUT it doesn't solve a damn thing. Sasuke need his vengeance, and dragging him back to Leaf is NOT going to solve anything. I want a resolution to this because I'm hurting for Sasuke and I'm hurting for Naruto. My heart wants Naruto to bring Sasuke back, but my head wants Sasuke to win against Naruto and just leave because we all know it is better for the plot. But if K-sensei can make Sasuke see reason again, to realise the 'precious people' in his life, to take a step back and wait to become stronger (kick Itachi's arse!) than I'll forever grovel at his feet.
As for the movie... KAKASHI! SQUEEE! And I'm a confused about the timeline. Naruto is using the rasengan (gods, I can't remember how to spell the damn justsu), and Sasuke is with them. So, does this mean the movie is set sometime after the current arc in the manga, and the anime is taking the AU route?
Death Note: Well... Raito proves once again his mad, mad skillz at screwing people over and thinkig ten steps ahead. So, L, what are you going to do with a person who honestly belief he is innocent? I love this series for the pure amoral aspect of it, and my inner psych student go all SQUEEE when Raito shows us his personality, or when L reveal tid-bits of his personality through his body language. SQUEEE!
FMA: 10 more episodes. It is not going to end happy, especially not with the snippets of the movie we have been getting -_-

I personally think Raito will do -everything- he can get away with. Meaning science, philosophy, possibly human bio (med), psychology and maybe a literature unit. Because Raito have to reflect the perfect student but still manage to be normal. He need to be perceived as a highly intelligent individual with a bright future. Thus, all his units will be hard and interesting, but he also -need- to be seen as a normal young adult. Meaning he'll need to seem at least slightly indecisive about his future. I can see someone asking him what he want to do for his future, and Raito replying that he doesn't know, at the present time he just want to try everything and see what he'd more interested in. Because Raito is cunning, and Raito need to seem normal while brilliant.
So, I see him graduating with a Med degree and maybe a Minor in psychology, because Raito need to be at least interested. Law and literature will be too boring and useless to him. Well law does provide him an avenue to be in a position of power, Raito is not the type that works in the light. He -needs- to be the guy controlling the puppet. Raito feel pride and absolute conviction at his actions but Raito doesn't want to be found out, because working from the shadows is fun, and this fits with his vision of a world of absolute Justice.
Anyways, Medicine and psychology. Medicine gives Raito the opportunity to study the human body, psychology allows him to study the mind, and while Raito is efficient at both at present time, he can improve. Manipulation will be much easier. In addition, Raito is methodical, and if things does not fall into his plans Raito tend to get very, very angry, to keep it short Raito is an utter control freak. The one thing that he want to control more than anything else seem to be humanity as a whole. And seriously, Raito is the type that will get a hard on from controlling an individual -without- utilising the Death Note.
[EDIT: As for L, well, L will probably do all the classes that Raito does just for the pure mind-fuck value. I also have this pet theory that L probably have several degrees under his belt already, and one of them will have to be psychology. No one notices everything about another person (cataloging body language in such a methodic manner) without some form of training, even if he is a genius.]
Anyways, being reading way too much Detective Conan and was re-reading Nartuo like mad though lost steam after the Chunnin exams. Loved Hayate, was quite sad when he died, actually it was probably at that point that the world of Naruto became more real to me. Death of an interesting and likable side-character always hit me harder than main characters (most of the time). In Hayate's case it was worse because I didn't see it coming until it happened *sighs* I have this urge to read fanfics on the lesser known Jounins. I have this theory that all Jounin walk a fine line between eccentricity and outright insanity. A job like their's requires people of uh, questionable mental sanity ^^;;;
Do need more DC, Kudo and Hattori together is a magnet for murder, though the latter is more of a focal point for physical damage. The boy has been drugged, stabbed, shot, and almost drowned after meeting Kudo. Now I need more Detective Conan. My love for Ai knows no bound.
[EDIT: I'm feeling like I'm on drugs. All floaty and with a slightly queasy stomach. Winters aren't good for my health.]
So yeah, downloading PoT manga scanlations. Re-reading through PoT manga scanlations, and getting depressed at the fact that the Rikkai matches in the manga will never get to be animated. Because dammit, the power-ups of Ryouma, Sanada and Kirihara, or the blind ZenMaster Fuji will never get their coloured screen time. I want the power-ups; I want to be able to see Fuji does his impression of a Wuxia dude as he does the graceful flying thing against Kirihara. And okay, I admit it I also want to be able to hear Sanada say 'Fuu Rin Ka Zan' in a serious voice, 'cos god knows everytime I attempt to say it I end up giggling on the floor. Ohhh, and I want to hear Ryouma speak in English 'cos I suspect the snark meter is gonna go up a few levels. Damn you animators.
There's always the movie. Yes, the movie in 2005! Maybe then I'll be able to see the SuperSaiyin thing ^__^ I can always hope.
On a serious note, I love the fact that Ryouma is so kick arse in the manga, and that Fuji has reached a state of enlightenment, and that Tezuka is probably going to return more powerful than ever, but I'm also slightly, hmmm, concerned. The discrepancies between the power levels get to me in my moments of clarity. The ease at which Ryouma and Kirihara take and melds their opponent's move annoys to me a tad (only sometime). 'Cos you know their opponents work their arse off to attain those moves, and the prats only needs one match to copy them, and in Ryouma's case use a mixture of moves from two opponents (Kamio and Shinji's). Grrr. It just rubs me the wrong way on a fundamental level. But it's alright, I can deal, 'cos as I keep on reminding myself, this series, when it comes down to it, is about evolution of people and their tennis skills, more so Ryouma's evolution than anyone else. Beside, the other players will get stronger too; it's just that they'll never be as strong as Ryouma. Oh well, pass the crack.
And now I shall go and download more images of anime/manga series, 'cos I wanna make wallpaper and icons ^__^V
KILLUA *squish* RABURABU!
If Togashi-sensei ever gets over his sprawling attention span and start concentrating on the main plot involving Gon's father, or Kurapika's vengeance against the Ryodan I'll be forever grateful. Hell, work in Killua's family and I'll be a mindless mass of pure happiness. Mind you, having a condensed running commentary of the newest volume by
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
I have hope for HXH no matter how much the current plotline sounds like a 50's B-grade horror/sc-fi film. Let's face it, manga/anime like any other medium, reuse plots and ideas, it's just a matter of how well the old themes are worked into the new format. Therefore, I have hope! To tell you the truth I'm much more in love with the HXH manga and anime than I am with Naruto.
Gon and Killua's friendship is a healing balm for me against Naruto and Sasuke's melodrama of a relationship. When I say relationship I mean that in every way. If Naruto and Sasuke are not screwing each other now they will be in the future. I refuse to say I'm imagining Naruto/Sasuke when K-sensei is all but shovelling it down our collective throats under the pretense of a 'platonic' rivalry.
See, three/four volumes ago I was all 'Naruto and Sasuke in the manga are only friends/rivals. It's only my fangirl mind that see the potential for anything more.' NO more. Three/four volumes ago it seemed Sasuke actually cared for Sakura, three/four volumes ago I thought Naruto was finally going to notice Hinata, three/four volumes ago Naruto and Sasuke weren't even interacting with each other. NO more. Now it's pretty much Naruto and Sasuke all way. Hell, ever when neither is seen in the manga it's still the 'Naruto and Sasuke' show.
See, this is what happens when the mangaka spend four volumes painting a world where it is all about Naruto and Sasuke. So, no more guilt (never felt any to begin with) over Naruto and Sasuke. As far as I'm concerned Naruto and Sasuke doing the hot monkey sex at some point in the future is canon (even if it isn't on screen). So, unless K-sensei suddenly decide to do a 180 degree turn and make Sakura the centre of the Universe for Sasuke, and stop telling us that Sasuke is like Naruto's one and only 'friend' my yaoi fangirl and my logical normal girl are in 100% agreement.
Some people say I'm delusional, personally I prefer observant ^__^V Beside, unless someone can prove me 100% wrong I'm gonna stick to what I'm seeing.
Issue 21; see Raito and L on their first date. Puzzle and sleuth is the way.
I'm sure I had more intelligent things to say about the manga, however, the two points I just raised seem to sum up everything about Raito and L. I want Raito/L fics!
InitialD Fourth Stage. I LOVE! I LOVE! I LOVE! The adventures of a boy and his car continue. However, the cars are much shinier, the races that much more amazing, and everyone have gotten much prettier. Except for Keisuke, 'cos his hair is a crime against humanity.
Seriously, it's nice to see Takumi maturing so much in his understanding of cars, though I laughed myself sick when Ryousuke made the comment that Takumi hasn't learned to play mind games yet. Love Takumi. I want IniD fics!
Saw King Arthur today. Not bad. Since the King Arthur of Mallory's never really existed, and there are hundreds of interpretations and re-writes of the Arthurian legends this Roman/Briton Arthur is fine.
Beside, the battle scenes more than makes up for the deviation from the Romantic tradition of Arthur. In addition, Arthur is somewhat hot, Lancelot is pretty hot, Tristan is hot, and Guinevere is really hot in that fur/leather get-up thing. I want Arthur/Lancelot/Guinevere threesome fics!

Also, it's damn hard not to like any of them. Luffy is the cute, Zoro is just cool, Nami is surprisingly useful, and her past is truly sad, Upsop has his moments, and Sanji is pretty cool as well. Beside, the moments of sadness and pain the mangaka manages to weave into the plot -hurt-. Dammit, one more series to find fanfiction for.
Had forgotten that one of the major themes to the game was of people watching the world pass by, observing the joys and the pains of others, not caring enough to help.
Beside airships, trains seem to be a big thing in FF7 (and 8).
Need sleep. Want to keep on playing. Just reached level 66 of Shinra building (love this part).
Can't wait for Advent Children. Everything in 3D. All the characters, all the places. And please GOD let there by flashback scenes, because yes, I am masochistic enough in wanting to see Aerith's death in FULL 3D glory. I will cry, I will rage, but I will squee with all the emotional force I can.
Now for PoT-manga thoughts (in no particular order). Specifically the Rikkai matches.
1. Jiroh is such a fangirl, the cute-bouncy sort not the stalker-maniac sort (though I might be wrong here).
2. Rikkai is cool. Hands down, no questions asked.
3. Sanada's hat is a hat of dorkiness that is a crime against humanity.
4. Sanda is cool because despite the hat-of-dorkiness the boy put the fear of God into the mass.
5. Inui is KEWL! Bow before Inui!
6. Thank the gods that Renji finally got a better hair cut. Gakuto is not the way to go.
7. Atobe. In the Hyotei uniform. In that pose. Is hot.
8. Niou and Yagyuu's relationship is beyond anything I have seen. Precisely because they are not related.
9. Yukimura is wow.
10. Fuji is a God. That, or the Zen Master of All Zen Masters.
11. Kirihara is a brat prone to demon possession. But a adorable brat.
12. Seigaku & Rikkai has gone beyond the current level of human evolution.
13. I want to see Konomi-sensei do ShounenFight manga! (a proper Samurai drama would be highly appreciated). As

So, with the newest issue of Tsubasa and the re-appearance of AUSeishirou I have been slowly... oh who the hell am I kidding, I went SQUEEEEE, and then went completely over the bend in my Seishirou and Subaru love. Yes, I know Subaru hasn't appeared yet, but this is CLAMP, and Sei-chan is missing an eye, and since this is CLAMP who is drawing and writing Sei-chan without the eye, then it must mean that Sei-chan is engaged, and since this is Seishirou I refuse to see him engaged to anyone except for Subaru. So there.
The problem is I trust CLAMP about as far as I can throw, which isn't far. This is way too good a chance for them to drag in the angst, and I just don't see them not dragging in the sakura blossoms, the dead twin, the family names, and well, the really fucked-up, confused love between Seishirou and Subaru. I -want- them to be happy, I just don't trust CLAMP to give the chance they deserve, no matter what universe. So now I'm getting twitchy and nervous, and I almost, almost wish that Seishirou never appeared in Tsubasa, except that would be a lie because the day I found out about Tsubasa was the day I wished, beside happiness for Ashura-oh, for the re-appearance of Seishirou and Subrau. For them to appear, and just be normal people with no powers or stupd family obligations, and of course, no appearance by the damn sakura tree.
Except now Seishirou has appeared, and while he look young he does not look normal. And with an eye missing I feel slightly sick. So yeah. Going to class now.
Also, was slightly worried at my own mental health when, at 2am in the morning, I couldn't decide whether the things I remember of FMA was actually cannon or from really good fanfics. I could have sworn certain events occurred in Ed and Al's childhood, but on re-watching a few eps. I have come to the conclusion that it was just me. This make me strangely happy.

I have fallen back into Shoujo. In a big way.

*Thinks about some of the scenes* Okay, she is a supporter of S&M.
But SQUEEEEE, I *hearts* The art is perfect for the series, the lines are so clean, and the fashion, the fashion, the fashion.
More rant/review of the series will be forthcoming. Now I need to go to class ^_^

I feel happy about it, hell most of the time I feel good when canon confirm what I had always assumed. Ahh, the smugness.
But that aside, I'm not disappointed by Teh Fuji. I can see why people are annoyed and have had their beliefs in him shaken, but well *shrugs* I never, for an instance saw Fuji truly serious about Tennis. To make it simple Fuji has always been a true genius to me.
Meaning, I had always thought that Fuji, because of his intelligence, sees things so differently from other normal people that he has to observe how others act in order to react accordingly. Though he probably find vast amusement out of human reactions as well. As I said to

Will stop.
Honest.
But Seto is so hot in the manga, and not half bad in the anime. He's also ruthless, and so efficient.
Yami -in- leather in BOTH the manga and anime. Enough said.
Bakura is hot. Evil, scheming bastard that he is.
Malik is an utter nutcase. Cute but fecking scary. We have gone beyond the slightly mad, we have reached the great territory of the completely 'lick your blood' insane.
The fact that they are all so -very- dominant make me -very- happy.
But of course there's a problem. They are -really- young. Mind you, so were the cast for Digimon 1&2, and well, love Ken and Yamato, Taichi is the best and Daisuke is the cutest *huggles*. And let's not forget the Kaiser. Yes, let's not forget the little megalomaniac and his whip.
I really should stop. But wahhhhh, I like YuGiOh yaoi, however, for some reason I feel bad about liking YuGiOh yaoi, when I'm perfectly fine with Digimon yaoi... and also Naruto yaoi.
*sigh* Well, it wasn't like I didn't know I was a dirty, dirty old woman (relative to the boys of course).
Now, I need to email my IS homework to my tutor.

However, considering that the five volumes I read today was in Chinese, and we ALL know that Chinese publication of manga with sex in it gets CENSORED! Hate censorship, they are evil, evil, evil. I didn't get to see any HGP (only kissing, but hot kissing). But that's alright, the story carried me through.
Don't anyone dare snicker. I'll have you know I LOVE the plot to Haru wo Daite Ita. I do, I do, I do. It's so simple but Nitta-sensei pull it off so well. I mean come one, anyone who can write a story about two AV actors falling in love, AND make it work should be admired and worshipped. But I love it to bits.
The interaction between the characters make me very happy, and Iwaki's family's reaction to his uh, career and love life is painful. But oh, I LOVE!
On a less biased note I can see why people might be slightly confused on why I LOVE the series. When you come down to it, the basic themes of the story is the same as every other yaoi/shoune-ai manga, but for various reasons this series click with me. I suspect it has to do with;
1. Nitta's art style. I like her more angular (realistic) character designs, and I love the clean lines (oh, the lines) she use for everything else, and the detail she can do for her buildings... *drool*.
2. Her love of twisting just enough of the yaoi conventions to make me interested. Disregard for certain *coughage/height/positioncough* rules make me happy.
3. The way her characters actually Develop.
4. The fact that the ANGST never become overwhelming and most of the time is dealt with in the issue (or in the next two issues) rather than dragging through 20+ volumes.
5. Despite the fact that it's about two AV actors falling in love, I find it more believable than a lots of the other yaoi out these. Not that it's absolute realism, I mean this is a YAOI manga we are talking about here.
6. And the HGP that she practically manages to draw into every issue. The fact that she can still advance the story, and develop all the characters make me -very- impressed.
And I'm sure there are other reasons as to why I rabu the series, but I can't think of anything at the moment, and I'm starving. Need food.
- Mood:
hungry
You think with past experience I'd have known better. Don't say anything.
Since then I've read XXX Holic and Tsubasa (CALMP's new series). Both are a crossover whore's (which I am) wet dream, and both have art-styles that have dramatically changed from X (HAPPINESS!! The lines are cleaner, and the style less, well, flowery). The former series actually endeavours to explain many mysteries of the CLAMP world(s), of which Mokona and the powers of Clow are revealed (well, more than the usual), and CLAMP (I can't believe they've managed) reveal that most (if not all) of their worlds are linked.
As for the latter... I don't know how to quite explain my happiness at reading Tsubasa. It's like seeing all of my dreams coming true. The second chances that were withheld, the lives that never were... the happy endings that should have been. It's ALL in Tsubasa! How can I -not- like the series?!?
I find myself re-reading Tsubasa, and giggling whenever a character from one of CLAMP's series make a cameo appearance. Sorata and Arashi married, living together, ALIVE made me happy, happy, happy. Touya as King, Yuki as -his- Mage (and friend) made me smile, but it was Ashura-Oh that made my heart skip. I love Ashura-Oh, I dare say he's my number one favourite character of CLAMP's work. To see him alive (even though asleep) made me so very happy, I was bouncing with joy. Noe, if only they decide to have Subaru and Seishirou make a cameo as a normal, happy, well adjusted couple. No magic, no missing eye, and no dead sister. The happiness.
I know, I know, it's cliche, it's obviously whoring, I should know better... but no, I have fallen in love with both series, and the little juicy bits they disclose make me a very happy fangirl.
The bitches.
